Scriptly Writing Challenge

Because I don’t have enough to do at the moment, I decided to sign up to a writing challenge!

I’ve been putting off writing for ages – I revist old scripts and make a few tweaks here and there but in terms of something new I’ve rather been stuck in a rut. Not that the stuff I wrote before was particularly worthy of being tweaked, you understand. There are a lot of very shit first attempts at a first draft that live in my Google Docs folder.

So I saw the Scriptly Writing Challenge advertised through BBC Writersroom, and thought it might be worth a punt. 14 days, 14 briefs, 14 short film screenplays. Sounds do-able, right?

It’s day 2 as I write this, and somehow I’ve actually submitted two short screenplays. I’ve linked them below so do feel free to have a read. They’re very quickly written, but that’s kind of the point. They’re not meant to be polished pieces, but the complete story needs to be there. It’s a quick dash first draft. Which is quite hard to say quickly outloud.

Who knows, there might be the beginnings of a blockbuster smash in these little scripts (I doubt it, but a girl can dream…) Family, may I recommend you skip 3 right now, it might be a bit too close for comfort.

I’ll upload all my submissions here, and I’d love some nice constructive feedback…
